Do Over Log

We found this log at my Father-in-law's.  It may have begun life as a power pole (okay, it actually began life as a tree, but let's not get technical).  My Guy cut it in half -- he's pretty clever with a chainsaw.

Then he sanded it. And I put on a few coats of polyurethane. Baker Son added some Ikea legs and . . . viola!

I think it's perfect! How 'bout you?

  3. Well, we still have the other half of the log... but before you two arm wrestle for it, I think it will make a great addition to the Media room. Guess you'll have to make yer own!

So, the other half of the log came home with us on Good Friday as you know. That weekend, My Man and I cut out the plywood brace for underneath. And then it sat in the garage. Until TODAY!!! I put about 4.5 hours into it this afternoon, screwing the brace to the bottom, affixing the legs and then sanding for 3 of those hours. And loving it!! My new best friend is an orbital sander. Who knew?? So it is time for wine now, and then next time I can get back into the garage, more sanding, varathane, then it gets to go in to our living room.

Do you ever add guest projects to the DoOver Dog Blog? If so, I'll send you a photo when the Sister DoOver Log is done, and you can post it if you like. If not, that's okay too.

Thank you for your inspiration and the gift of an old beat up log and some legs. It made me think of Your Man and Our Dad/Your Father In Law the whole time I was working on it. It was so nice.....
